Fun at Grammie’s House

Sometimes I feel a bit like I am on a hamster wheel. I wanted to break up the monotony of schooling and working from home. So we headed off to North Carolina for some fun at Grammie’s house.

My parents live in Boone, NC. It’s about a 7-hour drive from our house to theirs. Not too bad. Road trips used to be a nightmare, but now that Remy is a little older, he is more chill about riding in the car for an extended length of time.

I had to remind the big kids (several times) that we were not there on vacation. They still had to complete their school work. Remy spent most of his time playing with the dogs. Yeah, he’s allergic to them… but try telling him that!

West Jefferson, NC

Whenever I am at my parents’ house, I LOVE driving over to West Jefferson. It is simply the cutest town ever. This is where you can get some of the most delicious fudge ever. I actually made two trips to Ashe County to snag a LOT of fudge. My tastebuds loved it; my waistline did not.

We walked around the town. It was a beautiful day. I was pleased to see a lot of people out and about. It’s nice to think we are getting back to normal.

Having fun at Grammie’s house

The majority of our time was spent at Grammie’s house. Remy would play with the dogs in the morning. We would all travel down off the mountain and find lunch. The big kids worked on school in the afternoon while Remy napped. It was perfect.

We left two days early because Remy was SO puffy and sniffly. After he played with the pups, I would bathe him. He was taking 2-3 baths per day. I thought it’d be best to scoot out a little earlier than we initially planned.

Of course, two days after we left, it snowed. Snowed. In May. What? Crazy. Riley was unhappy with me.

Oh well. See you next time NC!
