School’s Out for the Summer!
I realize every year I feel this way, but goodness, time is flying by! Now that school’s out for the summer, we officially have a high schooler in our house! Reagan finished 8th grade, and Riley completed 6th grade. For the first time in a while, they will be at different schools in the fall. But let’s not go there for a bit… let’s recap.
I’ve been a bit busy with work lately, and I haven’t felt much like writing. Honestly, life has felt a little like that Bill Murray movie Groundhog Day. I am on repeat. However, looking back at this year, I have to admit that it’s been a fun, adventurous one.
Reagan had some big highs this year. She decided to join the archery team at school, and we went to her district competition a few months ago. I was SO impressed. 10 bullseyes!
@the_stucrew Proud Mama moment… Rea had 10 bullseyes today! Don’t mess with my girl 💪🏼
And even with the ridiculous fiasco at the school board, she was inducted into the NJHS in May. Follow that up with receiving an award for making ALL A’s all year at the 8th grade ceremony.
Riley had a fantastic 6th grade year. He overcame his anxiety and really came out of his shell toward the end of the school year. Riley opted not to play any sports or join any extracurriculars this year… there was more of a focus on learning the lay of the land. He is looking forward to getting into some of the engineering and computer science programs the middle school has.
One of his favorite trips this year was to Henderson, Tennessee. We went to see our niece and nephew perform in their college musical. We rented cabins at Chickasaw State Park, but the highlight for Riley was going out to Benji and Jessica’s farm.
@the_stucrew The older I get, the less I want to be around people. Do you think this city slicker could handle life in the country? 🤔 #babygoats #babychickens #happylife
Remy was terrified of the animals – Riley was in heaven. Reagan opted for a college baseball game instead, so she missed the entire experience. Riley was in heaven with all the baby goats and chickens.
Remy has been living his best life. He thrived in school this year. Sure, there was that one epipen incident, but other than that, he had the greatest school year. His vocabulary has simply exploded, and we are thoroughly enjoying all of his crazy stories. Now that school’s out, we are going to begin the fun task of POTTY TRAINING. Actually, Remy only has one week of no school, then it is back to the grind for him. Wish us luck potty training this week.
Oh, and we started swim lessons for Remy! It’s high time he became water safe. I was unsure how he’d be, but he loved it. He asks to go to the pool almost every day.
The photo on the left is a pretty good representation of how Remy looked every single day at school – crazy hair, Oreos around his mouth, PJs, and rain boots.
I am looking forward to this summer. I think it’ll blow by fast, but it should be a fun one. Reagan has camps and trips planned nearly every week. Remy will be in school. Riley will be hanging at home, except for the few weeks he has planned to be at Grammie’s house.
Perhaps I will keep you posted.
