One Year in Nashville, part 1
Yes, our wedding anniversary was a few days ago, but I am not referring to that event. It has been a year since we packed up and moved our family to Nashville, Tennessee.
I regret nothing.
That’s not to say it has been an easy year. We’ve been handed some doozies.
That’s not to say we don’t miss people. We do. Terribly.
Last year our dream came true when Stu accepted a job in Nashville. It all happened with lightning speed. We were in Nashville for our niece’s graduation in May. The following week Stu and I reached out to a few potential employers. I heard nothing. Stu had perked someone’s interest.
I had surgery on June 1 (pesky gallbladder and other issues). During my 4-day hospital stay, Stu interviewed over the phone and found us a place to live. We worked out a few key details. He booked a flight to Nashville, to interview in person.
It happened so fast, I thought I might have imagined it.
Stu started his job faster than I could get everything finished in Florida. So the kids and I stayed for an extra few weeks.

Summer was HOT.
Not only was it hot, it seemed to last forever. In September, I made the comment to Stu that I didn’t believe “FALL” was a real thing. We don’t have it in Florida, and it didn’t feel like it would ever come to Nashville.
We spent the first few months exploring our new town, trying new restaurants.
Nashville’s fall was wonderful.
The kids started school. And we watched Reagan blossom. She tried new things – soccer, band, theater. It was amazing to see her grow this year. I feel like she turned into a teenager overnight. It’s wild.
As a family, we tried new things… like camping.
The weather did change. Almost overnight, it went from the 90’s to snowing. We hosted our annual “StuCrew Boo Bash” and it was actually chilly. Halloween was downright cold. Too cold for Remy to go trick-or-treating. He stayed inside with Daddy and Uncle Jimmy.
Friday nights are for football! And Marching Band. Most other afternoons were spent cheering our soccer star on!
Riley had a great time at his new school too. He is still the funniest kid we know. Thanksgiving was a whirlwind. The week before was Reagan’s play and then the boys got sick. I don’t remember specifics, just lots of crying, teething, high temps. We had planned to host Thanksgiving dinner at our house, but that week we moved it to my sister-in-law’s house. Ours felt more like the house of horrors. On our way home from dinner, we found out Aunt Steph and Uncle Zach were pregnant! Best news ever.
In the next post, I will share more about our Winter and Spring experiences. I suppose I need to post more regularly so as not to have ridiculously long posts. HA!
See you next time.
