Where to Eat: Pigeon Forge.

As I am sure you know, we are a food allergy family. It’s rough. But it does not stop us from going out and trying new things. When we are in Pigeon Forge, visiting Dollywood, we always eat at two family favorites: Mellow Mushroom and Brick & Spoon.

Eating out is super stressful for an allergy parent. Even if you have been to that restaurant a million times, you ALWAYS have to make sure they know about the allergen. And it’s still a gamble. When we are traveling, it is usually a necessary evil.

Where to eat: Pizza.

Earlier in the month, we took a weekend trip to Dollywood with a bunch of extended family. For dinner on night 1, our crew opted for Mellow Mushroom. It’s not a local, unique-only-to-the-area joint, but it is yummy pizza. And we know they will accommodate Riley’s allergy.

Riley always gets a small cheese pizza for himself. Usually he kills it. Rem helped him this time. We ordered pretzel bites for an appetizer. They are delicious. Stu and I split a calzone with mushrooms, pepperoni and green peppers. It was the perfect amount of food to split. Reagan opted for her usual: the Italian sandwich. Mellow Mushroom has a divine Italian dressing. (Tip: ask for a little extra dressing. Dip your crust into it. Yum!)

Where to eat: Breakfast.

One of the best breakfast spots (ever) is in Pigeon Forge. We found it on our first trip to Dollywood. The hotel we stayed in recommended it.

Where to eat breakfast in Pigeon Forge

It should be no big surprise that breakfast joints totally freak me out. I mean, eggs are a major staple of the early morning grub. Most places are unable, uncomfortable trying to accommodate Riley. The Brick and Spoon was happy to help. They made toast for him on a clean panini press. On this trip, he requested a grilled chicken breast. The Brick and Spoon came through in a big way. Riley said it was good.

Stu and I ordered plenty of egg-y goodies though. The Bananas in Pajamas was probably my favorite, followed closely by the Bananas Foster French Toast. Oh man. SO. Stinking. Delicious.
