All Things Red, White & Blue

First, I must begin by saying THANK YOU. Thank you to all the men and women who have given their lives in order for us to have and continue our current lifestyle. Thank you to the families of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms. Stu and I know, and we are teaching our children that freedom is never free.

I’ve shared our crazy, busy, jam-packed weekend fun in Our Memorial Day 2017 Recap.

This post is dedicated to hosting a party with a red, white & blue Americana theme.

Red, White and Blue

One thing I love about hosting a Memorial Day shindig is the chance to reuse a lot of the decor on the 4th of July. And then perhaps again in November for Veteran’s Day.

I did not host this party. My mom did. And these decorations (unfortunately) belong to her.

A Sweet Treat

blue berries, white cream and red strawberriesI made these a few days prior to Memorial Day. I saw them on Pinterest and thought they looked easy and delicious. They were, but they are also pretty messy. I am going to mess around with the filing before the 4th of July. I plan on serving these at our house. Of course, I will share my findings with you.

But for these, all you need is:

A Sweeter Treat

No meal (or holiday feast) would be complete without a cake! Duh.

Since Riley is allergic to eggs, he helped Grammie make a special egg-free cake. He watched her during the entire baking process – just to make sure. And then he and Grandpa put the M&Ms on it in a flag pattern.

He did a great job! I love it.

He was excited about it. Talked about the cake for a day or two. Showed it off when we got to Grammie’s for the party.

But he was quite hesitant to eat it. Poor guy. He’ll always be weary of cake and cookies.

Don’t forget your cute American outfits and t-shirts.
