The Best Blackout Door Curtains

One thing that I LOVE about my new house is all the natural light it offers. One of the downsides is the light streaming in from the west side. That afternoon sun is a killer. The door leading out to my backyard has a beautiful, large glass center. I needed something to help with the sweltering Alabama, summer sun. Amazon to the rescue! I found the BEST blackout door curtains ever!

Truth be told, I ordered a set of curtains from Pottery Barn and one of these from Amazon. I actually did not even open the Pottery Barn ones once I hung these up. They are literally $100 less than the PB ones.

Save some money? Yes please.

Also, I could not get over how much they helped with the temperature blasting through this door. Before I hung up this blackout door curtain, this small section of my house would heat up so much it was uncomfortable to be near. I even took to leaving the pantry and powder room doors wide open to cut down on the sunlight and heat making its way into the kitchen. I need to measure the temperature change… all I know is that this helped immensely.

So I returned the PB version and ordered another one of these RYB Blackout Door Curtains from Amazon for the kitchen door.

These are super easy to install… they come with a Velcro strip. You place that above your window opening. Then place the curtain on that. Voila! Done.
