Massive Family Vacay
What a spectacular week!
We joined my husband’s parents and his brother’s family in the southwest for a 7-day Caravan tour of the Grand Canyon and other amazing spots.
I took notes, as is my usual travel custom, to help me remember the trip. And to help me write stories about it later. My “quick notes” ended up being 12 pages typed. Hmmm – I had to game plan how I was going to share everything with you. I decided I am going to break everything up according to location.
We were on a Caravan tour for this trip. It was my first experience with Caravan. I’ll be honest, when I took a look around the Welcome Meeting and saw a LOT of blue hair, I thought Oh boy, these people are going to be so happy to ride on a bus with my kids. (I hope you read that with an extreme amount of sarcasm.)
But it all worked out. The monsters were incredibly well behaved. (I know, I can’t believe it either.) It was really great to have a guide for this journey. Greg, our tour guide, gave us a lot of information, history and backstories for all of the places we visited. We went to places we never would have known about. It was truly incredible.
Our Trip in Extremely Brief List Form
I don’t want to give too much away. The posts about each place will be more detailed and photo-heavy. But here is a quick breakdown of our 9-day journey. Each location is a clickable link.
Day 1 – Fly from south Florida to Phoenix, AZ. Caravan Welcome Meeting at 6pm.
Day 2– Bus ride to the Grand Canyon National Park with a quick stop at Montezuma’s Castle and a long stop in Sedona, AZ.
Day 3 – Grand Canyon National Park (part 1 & Part 2), brief morning trip to Desert View Lookout.
Day 4 – Some fun in the Wild West, Jeep ride through Monument Valley, then continue on to Lake Powell Resort.
Day 5 – Morning boat cruise through Antelope Canyon.
Day 6 – Quick stop in Kanad, UT. Then onto Bryce Canyon for a longer stop. After Bryce, we headed to Zion National Park in Utah.
Day 7 – Spent the day at Zion National Park, private tram ride in the morning.
Day 8 – Bus ride to Las Vegas. The tour officially ends at the LV Airport, but we tacked on a night in Sin City.
Day 9 – Morning in Vegas, then fly home.
Sounds fun, right? I am so excited to share this with you.
