The House that Built Me

We have officially said goodbye to my childhood home. It’s bittersweet for sure.

First, thank you Chris Treu and the Treu Group for sending me the pictures of the house. And thank you for taking excellent care of our family’s real estate needs for so many years. You guys are amazing!

Now, about the house. This is a special place. My Dad and Poppy built it. Those two spent years working on it after work and on weekends. Poppy is no longer with us, so the house has been a nice reminder of him. Years ago, some of the siding was replaced. Mom and Dad found pieces of wood that my Poppy had written on. One with my name. The siding that was removed now hangs as a feature wall in my parents’ N.C. home office. It is nice that a part of the 80th house will live on with our family.

In 2016, Dad started replacing the pool fence. That was a family affair too. Dad did the lion’s share of the work, but there were some helpers along the way.

In its 31 year history, the 80th house has been host to countless holiday meals, egg hunts, pool parties, BBQs, Christmas mornings, birthdays, and even a wedding.

I hope the next family enjoys it as much as we have. It is truly a special house.
